Band information:
Boards of Canada is a Scottish ambient IDM project consisting of two brothers, Mike Sandison and Marcus Eoin, who have been creating music together since childhood. The band name is a reference to the National Film Board of Canada, whose documentary films the brothers cite as a source of influence on their music.
Since the band rarely plays live or gives interviews, little is known about what gear they use. When they do perform live, stickers are often used to cover identifying logos on the backs of their synths and equipment. They have, however, made reference to a "secret weapon," which is an important part of the Boards of Canada sound. Some have speculated that this is a Yamaha CS-80 or Roland SH-101 analog synthesizer, though this has yet to be confirmed.
